WealthyFi is a Canadian personal-finance app that helps you see all your money in one place and decide what to do next. This policy explains, in plain language, what information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it. We treat your financial information as highly sensitive, and we designed WealthyFi so that we can help you understand your money without ever being able to move it.
The short version
- Your bank connections are read-only. WealthyFi can view balances and transactions to analyze them, but can never move, transfer, or withdraw your money.
- We use your data to show your net worth, cash flow, spending, subscriptions, budgets, and wealth strategies — and to power an educational AI money coach.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we don’t use it for advertising.
- Your data is hosted in North America, encrypted in transit and at rest, and you can access, export, correct, or delete it at any time by emailing hello@wealthyfi.app.
This is a summary for convenience. The full policy below is what legally governs our handling of your information.
1. Who we are
WealthyFi is operated by WealthyFi Technologies Inc. (“WealthyFi,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), a company based in Ontario, Canada. We build a personal-finance mobile app that helps Canadians track their money, understand their spending, and make better decisions with an unbiased money coach. Amounts in the app are shown in Canadian dollars (CAD), and the app references Canadian account types such as the TFSA, RRSP, and FHSA.
WealthyFi is a financial-technology company. We are not a bank, not a broker-dealer, and not a licensed financial or investment advisor. The insights and coaching in the app are educational and general in nature.
This policy applies to the WealthyFi mobile app, our web app, and this website. We are the party accountable for the personal information under our control, including information handled on our behalf by the service providers listed below. If you have any questions, our Privacy Officer can be reached at hello@wealthyfi.app.
2. Information we collect
We collect only the information we need to run WealthyFi and give you useful, personalized insights. There are three main kinds:
a. Account and financial data (through Plaid)
When you connect a financial account, you do so through Plaid, a trusted account-connection service. You enter your bank credentials with Plaid — not with us — and Plaid then provides WealthyFi with read-only information about the accounts you choose to link. This can include:
- Account balances for your linked bank, credit card, and investment accounts.
- Transaction history — the dates, amounts, merchants, and descriptions of purchases, deposits, and transfers.
- Account metadata — the account name, account type, and a masked last-four-digit identifier (we do not receive or store your full account numbers).
- Income and recurring-deposit information, where your institution makes it available.
b. Personal information you give us
Basic profile information needed to create and secure your account — primarily your name and email address. It also includes anything you choose to type into the app, such as goals you set or the questions you ask the money coach.
c. Usage and device information
Standard technical information that helps us keep the app working, secure, and reliable — for example your device type, app version, general app-activity logs, and a push-notification token if you opt in to notifications. We use this to diagnose problems, prevent abuse, and improve the product.
3. Read-only bank access — we can’t move your money
This is the most important thing to understand about WealthyFi. Every account connection is read-only. We can view your balances and transactions so we can analyze them and show you insights, but WealthyFi cannot move, transfer, withdraw, or spend your money, and we cannot make any changes to your accounts. There is no payment or money-movement capability in the app. Viewing is all we do.
4. How we use your information
We use the information above to provide and improve WealthyFi. Specifically, we use it to:
- Show your total net worth by bringing your account balances together in one place.
- Analyze your cash flow — what comes in, what goes out, and what’s left.
- Break down your spending by category so you can see where your money actually goes.
- Detect recurring subscriptions and bills so you can decide what’s worth keeping.
- Help you build and track budgets and savings goals.
- Generate personalized wealth strategies and one clear next move.
- Power the AI money coach so it can answer your questions in context (see the next section).
- Send you transactional email and, if you opt in, push notifications about your money.
- Keep the service secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and meet our legal obligations.
We do not use your financial information to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell it. Our legal basis for handling your information is your consent, which you give when you create an account and connect your data, and which you can withdraw at any time (see Your privacy rights).
5. The AI money coach and what it sees
WealthyFi includes an AI money coach that answers your financial questions. To answer them accurately, we send your question along with the specific transaction details needed to respond — such as a merchant name, an amount, a date, and a city — to a large language model through our AI provider OpenRouter, which returns the guidance. This can include line-item detail about your spending, not only high-level totals.
We still limit what leaves WealthyFi. We never send your bank credentials, full account numbers, or raw account access tokens to the AI provider, and we route these requests with a no-retention setting so the model provider does not store your data or use it to train its models. The AI provider processes this context in the United States (see section 8).
The money coach is educational and general in nature. It is not licensed financial, investment, tax, or legal advice, and it is not a recommendation to buy or sell any specific product or security. For advice tailored to your full situation, please consult a licensed professional.
6. Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with a small set of trusted service providers (“sub-processors”) that help us run WealthyFi, and only for the specific purposes below. Each is bound by contract to protect your information and use it only to provide their service to us.
| Provider | What it does for us | Hosted in |
|---|---|---|
| Plaid | Securely connects your bank, card, and investment accounts and delivers read-only balances and transactions for analysis. | North America |
| OpenRouter | Routes your money-coach questions — together with the specific transaction details needed to answer them (merchant name, amount, date, and city) — to a large language model that generates educational guidance. Your bank credentials, full account numbers, and access tokens are never sent. Requests are routed with a no-retention setting so the model provider does not store or train on your data. | United States |
| Resend | Sends transactional email such as sign-in, security, and account notices. | North America |
| Giphy | Provides optional reaction GIFs used only if you turn on “fun mode.” No financial data is ever sent to Giphy. | North America |
| Expo | Delivers push notifications to your device (for example, a new insight or a bill reminder). | North America |
| Vercel | Hosts and serves the WealthyFi web experience and this marketing site, and collects privacy-friendly, cookieless usage analytics (page views and performance, with no personal identifiers). | United States |
| Verifies your identity when you choose “Sign in with Google.” We receive your email address and basic profile to create or sign you into your account; we send no financial data to Google. | North America | |
| Railway | Hosts our application backend and encrypted database. | North America |
We may also disclose information if the law requires it (for example, a valid legal order), to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and WealthyFi, or in connection with a business transfer such as a merger or acquisition — in which case we will require the successor to honour this policy.
7. We don’t sell your data
To be completely clear: WealthyFi does not sell, rent, or trade your personal or financial information to anyone. We do not share it with advertising networks or data brokers, and we do not use it to target you with third-party ads. Our business does not depend on monetizing your data.
8. Where your data lives
Your information is stored and processed in North America, using the cloud infrastructure and providers listed above. Because some of our providers operate in the United States, your information may be processed there and could, in limited circumstances, be accessible to authorities under the laws of the country where it is held. We choose providers that maintain strong security and privacy practices.
9. How we protect your data
We treat financial data as high-sensitivity information and protect it with layered safeguards:
- Read-only connections. Because we can only view your accounts, there is no way for the app — or anyone who misused it — to move your money.
- Encryption in transit. Data moving between your device, our servers, and our providers is protected with TLS encryption.
- Encryption at rest. Your data is encrypted when stored in our database.
- Application-layer token encryption. The most sensitive credentials — the access tokens that link your accounts through Plaid — are additionally encrypted at the application layer, on top of at-rest encryption.
No system can promise perfect security, but we work hard to protect your information and to limit access to it to what is strictly needed to operate the service.
10. How long we keep your data
We keep your information only for as long as your account is active and we need it to provide WealthyFi to you, and afterward only as long as necessary to meet legal, accounting, or security obligations.
You can disconnect a financial account at any time, which stops WealthyFi from receiving new data from it. If you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal and financial information within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain records by law. We may keep aggregated or de-identified information that can no longer be linked to you.
11. Your privacy rights (PIPEDA)
WealthyFi follows Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws. You have the right to:
- Access — ask what personal information we hold about you and how we use it.
- Export — request a copy of your information in a portable format.
- Correction — ask us to fix information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Deletion — ask us to delete your account and personal information, subject to legal retention requirements.
- Withdraw consent — disconnect your accounts or stop using WealthyFi at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@wealthyfi.app. We will verify your identity and respond within the timeframe required by law (generally within 30 days). If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
12. Children and minimum age
WealthyFi is intended for adults. It is not directed to children, and you must be at least the age of majority in your province or territory to create an account and use the app. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of majority. If you believe a minor has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as WealthyFi evolves or as the law changes. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will provide additional notice in the app or by email. Your continued use of WealthyFi after an update means you accept the revised policy.
14. Contact & Privacy Officer
Our Privacy Officer is the person accountable for WealthyFi’s handling of your personal information. For any privacy question, request, or concern, reach out:
